However, for all of Steel‘s flaws, you have to give it credits for being the first blockbuster comic book movie to feature a Black superhero. This debuted a year before Blade arrived with Wesley Snipes (an actor who was considered for the Steel role), and it brought the action to an urban setting in Los Angeles. Furthermore, it featured young kids of color who were sucked into a life of crime by greedy, white villains (including Judd Nelson) who used then-popular arcade games and the promise of mad C.R.E.A.M. to lure them in. There’s even one point when Judd Nelson, in the whitest way possible, tells John Henry Irons’ little brother (played by a young Ray J) that he can call him “The Man.”

Gary Trousdale: In the book and several of the movies, Quasimodo talks to the gargoyles. We thought, “This is Disney, we’re doing a cartoon. The gargoyles can talk back.” One thing led to another and we’ve got “A Guy Like You.”Home & Garden

Generally animated movies need to be 90 minutes or less because the budgets. There’s no cheap animated movies. They’re usually above $50 million, just to start. You learn very quickly to pack as much into a scene as humanly possible. That’s why the Pixar movies work so well. That’s why they’re masters of it, because they are great at getting a lot of ideas and thoughts, whether it’s story stuff or character stuff, and dovetailing all that stuff together. They’re masters of that and that’s what you learn in animation.Squirt Toys

But when you ask Joe something, when you do need help, he’s right there. He doesn’t give a lot of hoity-toity direction. He’s to the point. “This is what I’d like to see.” I tell you something, there have been many times since when I have prayed or wished that it could be Joe. He’s just my cup of tea, against which I have measured many lesser cups of tea over the years.

I’ve always assumed Into the Spider-Verse would simply be a precursor to Marvel’s live-action exploration of the multiverse. But just because that was an animated movie does not mean that live-action characters from No Way Home might slip into its animated universe – or vice-versa. We’ve seen animated sequences in Marvel projects before (very recently, in fact, in last week’s episode of Loki), but nothing as complicated as having characters who are supposed to be animated sharing the same space with live-action characters. But there’s a first time for everything.

Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins stars Henry Golding as Snake Eyes, a tenacious loner who is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the Arashikage after saving the life of their heir apparent. Upon arrival in Japan, the Arashikage teach Snake Eyes the ways of the ninja warrior while also providing something he’s been longing for: a home. But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes’ honor and allegiance will be tested – even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him.Montana

Remember when Hollywood made blockbusters that were funny and sexy?  One of the last good examples of this is probably The Mask of Zorro, an utterly delightful take on the Zorro story starring incredibly attractive people Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Loaded with swashbuckling adventure, sex appeal, and a good sense of humor, this is more enjoyable than pretty much any blockbuster released in the 21st century so far.
